
World Music Day, also known as Fete de la Musique, was a music festival that commenced in France in 1982. The attention was visualized by French Minister of civilization, Jack Lang, in 1981. World Music Day has been celebrated on June 21st every year.
On this day, the musical group performs the music for free of charge in open areas. Free performance are prepared in parks, museums, train station, castles etc. This helps in formation of all sorts of music available to the community. It gives an opportunity to communicate and contribute to a particular relationship through music. There is no limit for sound on this day.
The word of ‘World Music’ comprises both the traditional as well as non-Western music. It is folk music of any civilization, take part by original people. Moreover it is a classical music all along with traditional cultural instruments. A few of them are Tibetan `chants` Indian `raga` South African `township` music and Japanese `Koto` music.
World Music Day is celebrated in Argentina, Australia, Britain, Luxemburg, Germany, Switzerland, and Costa Rica, China, India, Lebanon and several other countries. This is made to support peace and extend goodwill through music. Musicians from crossways the world is also invited to perform on World Music Day.
